The KGM is a traditional crafted muscle back design by Shinagawa Kiyoshi. It is forged out of the highest quality S25C steel; giving the contact with the ball a very soft feel. Some other features include: a minimum offset, maximum control and workability. It has a traditional look with a high neck, classic muscle back, and a mid-high centre of gravity for ball flight direction, spin control and for all ground and weather conditions.
It has smooth rounded toe and a special hand grinded sole. The sole of the longer irons have a minimal bounce and the shorter irons have slightly larger bounce. This allows the shorter clubs to produce a crisp shallow divot and the longer clubs to easily cut through various lies.
The Shinagawa 209J is an iron with a half cavity design combining the profile of a blade with the forgiveness of a cavity back. The half cavity offers shot forgiveness and performance. The 209J is suggested for golfers with a driver swing speed of 96mph or higher. It has a sharp sleek design with a minimal offset to allow for unique workability, confidence, and precision. The 209J is designed to give a more stable mid trajectory with exceptional spin performance; improving on the past irons accuracy and distance. The iron is crafted with Mild S25C steel, and is finished with a Nickel Chrome plating with a pearl satin finish.
With the 206H, Master Shinagawa has taken a proven head design and shaped it to his specifications to create a medium sized cavity with more bounce for softer grounded courses. He has altered the grind to provide a trailing edge and heel relief to add a greater measure of versatility. With its soft S25C head and nickel chrome plating, it allows an easy launch with a higher trajectory. The head is mid-sized with a rounded shape to reduce friction.
The Shinagawa 208I is a premium iron set intended to give a soft feel and shot forgiveness. The iron features a compact head design to provide a consistent feel and greater control. The back cavity is shallow which helps to absorb the vibrations of impact. The center of gravity is placed lower than the 209J to produce a higher trajectory; yet, the iron is low enough to produce a penetrating shot.
The 212K has a deep cavity back that absorbs vibrations and produces a consistent soft feel. The hitting face has a thicker section right under the sweet spot to promote a more balanced and powerful energy transfer on impact. The center of gravity is slightly higher than the standard model for a deeper trajectory. The sole has a grind that allows the clubs to smoothly slice through thick grass and flow through the tight lies.
Shinagawa irons are hand crafted by Mr. Kiyoshi Shinagawa in the region of Japan called Himeji. Himeji is popular for its high quality forging of Japanese swords dating back to 794 C.E. Himeji is now a golf iron crafting hub of Japan. “Takumi”, the art Mr. Shinagawa practices, means that he has inherited the soul of the sword-smith.
